Music - Instrumental, Part 1
Instrumental Music Part 1 provides an opportunity to look at the fundamental concepts unique to an instrumental music program in the junior to intermediate years. Advocacy, Inclusivity, and Assessment and Evaluation make up a good portion of the course while practical components aim to help guide your skills. Specifically, candidates will have the opportunity to learn about transposition, conducting, and playing a brass and woodwind instrument. Picking up some tips and tricks along the journey will no doubt guide students in the classroom. Candidates will learn to play a 6 note beginner song. Successful candidates in the course will have some experience in music. Piano, high school band, or general experience with any instrument (or voice) could act as a prerequisite, although not specially required.
Materials required include access to both a woodwind and a brass instrument to demonstrate proficiency in a recorded and electronically shared performance of a 6 note beginner song.
