Integrated Arts, Winter 2022

This course is designed to extend skills and knowledge of Arts instruction with a focus on the 2009 revised Ontario Arts Curriculum on the four Arts strands: Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Arts. Candidates will develop their understanding of Integrated Arts and Arts education by discussing the creative process, theory, pedagogy, and assessment strategies of learning through the arts. They will learn differentiated and inclusive teaching strategies to facilitate effective instruction of integrated arts (hybrid of two or more Arts disciplines), as well as arts integration (combining Arts with other non-Arts subject areas) to address the needs of all learners.

Candidates will have opportunities to communicate and apply their learning through discovering resources, sharing practical experiences, creating integrated lessons, and having discussions about the value and benefits of learning through the Arts

Prerequisites:

• Certificate of Qualification and Registration or Interim Certificate of Qualification and Registration (ICQR) or ICQR (Limited) with the Ontario College of Teachers.
